The Hamilton County Envirothon is a one day competition for high school students throughout the county. The students are tested on their knowledge of Aquatics, Forestry, Soils, Wildlife and Current Issues. |

2003 Conservation Field Day
On September 25, 2003 one hundred and fifty, fifth and sixth grade students participated in the 23rdAnnual Lynn Galusha Memorial Conservation Field Day at the Hamilton County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) office. |

Conservation Field Day 2004
A wide range of topics were presented this year such as Forest Fire Ecology & Control by Greg George, Rob Praczkajlo & Steve Preston, DEC Forest Rangers, Macroinvertebrates & Water Quality by Caitlin Stewart, Hamilton County SWCD, pH & Acid Rain, by Nancy Welch, Cornell Cooperative Extension, First Aid, by Gary Wickes, Speculator Ambulance, Soil Erosion by Marc Usher, Greater Adirondack Resource Conservation & Development, The 10 Essentials Checklist by Bob McGill, Reptiles of NYS by Dean Davis. |

Envirithon 2004
We would like to send our most sincere thanks out to all the presenters who made up the tests: Soils -Ted Trevail, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service(NRCS); Forestry - Cliff Wray and Ron Kaplewicz, NYSDEC; Current Issue - Marc Usher, Greater Adirondack RC&D Council; Wildlife – Beth O’Neill, NYSDEC; Aquatics – Del Cook, Hamilton County Soil & Water Conservation District. Additional thanks goes out to the Hamilton County Water Quality Coordinating Committee and Charlie Johns Store who made donations to the event, plus all the volunteers that help to make things run smoothly.
